Week 23 February 4th - 8th Letter Ff

February 1, 2019

Hi Parents,

This Friday February 8th, Early

Childhood  will be going on

a fieldtrip to AGAFAM. We will

leave school at 8am and be back

by 11o'clock. Permision slips

went home on Friday.

Please fill it out and send 100

Lempiras. This fee will cover

transportation, park entrance and a snack.

Valentine's Day is right around the

corner. We will celebrate it on Thursday

February 14th.  Please send in a decorated

shoe box by Tuesday February 12th. This will be

your child's "mailbox". The students can receive

their Valentine Treats and store them in there.

We have 22 students in Kindergarten. If you are

planning to send treats in please make sure there is

enough for every student.

This week we are going to be working

with the letter Ff. The vocabulary is

the following:

fan, fish, forest, fence, frog,

french toast, fruit, french fries,

fox, flag, flashlight, fire, farm,

football, and family.

If you have any items at home that begin with this letter, send them in so we can share them in class.
We will display them  and return on Friday.

Some of the stories that we will be reading this week are:

Fifi's flute has fallen in the river. Will it float away forever?

Two best friends, a minnow and a tadpole, are practically inseparable until the tadpole grows legs and decides to explore the world beyond the pond. When the tadpole, now a frog, returns to tell his friend of the extraordinary things he’s seen, the minnow, now a fish, tries to follow in his footsteps, but quickly finds that land is not what he expected.

Frog and Toad are best friends—they do everything together. When Toad admires the flowers in Frog's garden, Frog gives him seeds to grow a garden of his own. When Toad bakes cookies, Frog helps him eat them. And when both Frog and Toad are scared, they are brave together.

Meet Nancy, who believes that more is ALWAYS better when it comes to being fancy. From the top of her tiara down to her sparkly studded shoes, Nancy is determined to teach her family a thing or two about being fancy and u. This is the bestseller that launched the beloved Fancy Nancy series.

We will continue working with the sight words that were introduced last week:
do, what so, am, she, go
Please take 15 minutes every day to practice them at home with your child. It is very important for all of them to recognize all the sight words we have covered in class so far. Once they can recognize sight words, it is going to be a lot easier for them to read books.

The following link is a nice and fun game to practice these words.

We will continue to work with the concept of addition, before, between and after. The students are all very excited to be solving  addition prob.

In Math, we will also  begin our unit on measurement.  The children will have fun measuring objects around the room using different units of measurement. We will use items from the class such as unifix cubes, links, blocks, etc. You may want to do some measurement activities with your child at home. At this time, they will use non-standard units of measurement and not the rulers that we normally use to measure things. This week our main focus will be Longer and Shorter. We will be using balances!!!
