! My name is Ms.
Valencia Durón and I will have the pleasure of teaching your child this
year. I have been working at Discovery
for the last 16 years. This is my 10th year as a Kindergarten
teacher. It is my belief that a child's success is based on a cooperative
parent/teacher relationship. I look forward to working with you
throughout the year. Discovery School
I hope you and your child enjoyed the summer and that you are ready to embark on an important milestone in your child's life. Kindergarten is a year of growing socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Your involvement, interest, and enthusiasm will help make this a wonderful year of growth for you and your child.
Take a moment to imagine the kindergarten world: letters, numbers, stories, sharing blocks, puzzles, play, paint and play-dough. Imagination and creativity are everywhere. As you talk with your child about their day and celebrate their best effort on the work they do, remember that Kindergarten is a "child's garden." Many times the process is more important than the product, and learning is accomplished by doing, touching, and experiencing.
At this early stage of learning, it is important to set routines in your child's life. Try to set aside time each day to discuss what your child did in school.
I feel that my greatest contribution so far in education has been serving my students to the best of my ability and being an advocate for their education.
Welcome to Discovery School. I hope everyone had a wonderful vacation. We are back to school and ready to engage in a great year full of new experiences and discoveries.
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Nora Sierra and I am honored to be your kindergarten teacher this year. I have 18 years of experience as a teacher and teaching is my passion.
I believe that communication is the key to a great Parent-School relationship. I encourage you to contact us by using our school webpage if you have any questions or concerns at any time. As an educator, I believe that all students are capable of learning and meeting academic and social standards by providing the right environment. I am, therefore, committed to provide challenging, varied, and engaging opportunities for all of our students to learn in a community of respect and personal responsibility. At Discovery School, we foster a strong foundation for learning and nurture personal growth, integrity, and respect for all.
With our educational system, we are committed to the belief that all students are capable of attaining high levels of educational achievement in preparing for a productive and rewarding life and becoming a responsible citizen. We intend to help all students reach this goal.
I hope that together we will create a safe and respectful learning community where student goals are met by personalized instruction, creative learning opportunities, and a strong support system from our staff. Please feel free to participate in your child’s academic year as much as you are able. Helping hands are always needed, whether it is reading a story to the class, helping with field trips or class activities, or any other participation will enrich our school experiences. I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child.
