WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 26th TO 30th, 2011

This is definitely going to be a fun week!
We will be studying letter Ff. The word of the week is fan. We will be discussing fire safety and procedures in case of a fire. If you have any books or stories related to the topic please send them to school so that we can read them to your child.

On Friday September 30th the kindergarten students will be visitin the firestation, please send in your child´s permission slip as soon as possible.Your child must wear his/her Discovery school shirt on that day:

On October 4th we will begin writing EVERY DAY in a journal. Each student is going to have his or her own journal that will be changed every month. Through daily writing experiences young children will move along various writing stages at different rates. Making journal writing a daily habit in kindergarten can help children learn and look forward to an opportunity to draw and write.

This week we are going to start Read Aloud Time. We will be reading a book called Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Osborne from the Magic Tree House Series. This is to develop your child’s comprehension in reading. Reading aloud can make a difference in the lives of young children!

If you have not yet sent your child’s Progress Report signed, please do so before the end of this week. Those of you who have not yet sent a change of clothes for your child make sure you send it as soon as possible. Accidents do happen and you never know if you will ever get a call from us informing you that your child needs a complete set of clothes.

Please do not forget to check the Administration Blog for the Parents’ Monday Memo. VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION IS GIVEN OUT THIS WEEK REGARDING SCHOOL SAFETY AND MEDICAL CARE AT SCHOOL.

We wish to thank Valentina Isabel Palma and Juan Daniel Montoya for bringing the ingredients of last week’s Kindergarten Kafe. The kids made a nicely decorated egg out of bread, cream cheese, and Skittles. This week, Stephanie Nicolle Rodriguez and Ekaterina Jaqueline Muller will be in charge of providing the ingredients for Kindergarten Kafe.
