Writing a Rhyming Story for Dr. Seuss

March is Dr. Seuss’ Birthday! Our students are excited about a special parent-son/daughter project that will be carried out in Kindergarten.  Your child will have the opportunity to become a writer and an illustrator of his/her first Dr. Seuss story using rhyming words.

This week we have been talking about characters, settings, and special rhyming words that can be used in their stories. Students are going to choose 2 characters, draw, give them a name, and decide where the story will take place.

On Friday, March 2nd you will receive an empty booklet to create the story. At home they are going to write and illustrate a 10-page story, each page should have one or two sentences using as many rhyming words as they know.  The due date for this project is April 6th, 2018

Your child will have the opportunity of read the story aloud to you several times to make the corrections needed.  Then, he needs to complete the book with a title, a cover, and the name of the author.
Remember, your child will be the author of the story, so please, help him be creative, used his/ her imagination, think, write, draw, and color.

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!” ― Dr. Seuss

**Students work will be displayed for other classes to see. Books will be checked by teachers and then, will receive a special prize depending if they won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.**

Thanks for your cooperation
