WEEK OF FEBRUARY 29 TO MARCH 2, 2012

Dear Parents,

This week we still be working with letter Ss. We will continue with rhyming words and word families until the end of the school year. Please keep practicing the sight words with your children.

This week we will concentrate our efforts in learning about the Solar system and will finish talking about spiders.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THIS WEDNESDAY – Students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.

DPTO MOVIE NIGHT – The DPTO is putting together the tradional Movie Night, and it has been scheduled for this Friday, March 2. The movie that will be shown is PUSS IN BOOTS. Pizza, sweets, drinks and pastries will be sold. If you bring your ticket from the flyer that was sent home, a free bag of pop corn will be given to you!

WEEK OF FEBRUARY 21-24,2012

Dear Parents,

This week we will be working with letter Ss. We will continue with rhyming words and word families until the end of the school year. Please keep practicing the sight words with your children.

This week we will concentrate our efforts in learning about the five senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell.

Since we are doing letter Ss we will also talk about spiders. We are sure the children will be quite interested to learn about these arachnids.

Please remember to send back the Progress Reports that went home last Thursday. We need them signed by you.
It will be an early dismissal on Wednesday,February 29.Students will be dismissed at 11:45 am.




CHOIR PERFORMANCE THIS WEEKEND – Our choir will be showcased onSaturday, February 25, at 3:30 p.m. in the Orgullosamente Catrachas Fair which will take place in Nova Center. It is a great opportunity to support our choir as they strive to get sponsors for their San Francisco trip. This fair is also a great outing to support local small businesses of Honduran women.

 
Stephanie Rodriguez and Ricardo Talavera will be in charge of bringing the ingredients for our Kindergarten Kafe on Friday.

WEEK OF FEBRUARY 13 – 17, 2012

Dear Parents,

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!! We are going to be having a lot of fun with the activities planned for this day. We have been talking about friendship and ways to be nice to each other. Thank you to all the parents for making this celebration possible!!!!

This will surely be a busy and short week in our Kindergarten World. We are going to continue talking about rhyming words and word families all the way to the end of the school year. The children are becoming experts identifying rhyming words.We also 
be doing a review of letter sounds, addition and subtraction.

We will continue in our unit about plants. The children are all very excited to watch how their plants are growing. 

On Thursay February 16th  Mid term reports will be sent home.
This Friday 17th and next Monday  20th  are holidays. President`s Day weekend in the U.S.Have fun, be safe and enjoy your time off!!!

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND - Discovery School Drama Department presents: "ROMEO TO GO" on Valentine's Day, February 14 at 7:00 p.m. If you missed the first performance, you missed being a part of something really special. Please join us for this repeat performance and celebrate the special day in a special way. This is a great time to invite your friends or neighbors to get an inside view of what we do at Discovery School. Valentine's Day themed food will be sold. Tickets are only 100L for adults, 50L for students.

WEEK OF FEBRUARY 6-10, 2012

                                      

      Dear Parents,

This week we will be working with the letter Rr. We will be working extensively with rhyming and word families.

We have been talking about Question Marks. The children are aware that we use them at the end of a question. We will be writing lots of questions this week. It would be great if you can practice with your child at home giving them a statement and asking If they need a period, an exclamation point or a question mark at the end!!!

Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday and we will be celebrating it at school. We will be talking about Friendship and making a lot of fun activities with the children.

A big Thank you goes to Naima Haidara and Juan Daniel Montoya for donating the ingredients for last week’s Kindergarten Kafe. The children had a lot of fun making a quilt out of bread and cheese cream. This week the children in charge of Kindergarten Kafe are Valentina Palma and Ekaterina Muller.
