WEEK OF MAY 21 – 25, 2012

Dear Parents,

Time is flying by so fast and it is the time of the year in which we have to get ready for Graduation.

This week we are going to start practicing for this day. We will be learning a song that the students will sing during the ceremony. We are going to talk about our Kindergarten Memories so we can put together a nice book. Remember that this memorable day is going to take place on Friday, June 8th at 4:00 p.m. at the school gym. The Kindergarten students need to be at school by 3:30, since there will be no classes for them on this day.
The children are NOT required to attend school after their graduation.

We have been focusing on ending sounds. This week we will continue to work with syllables, word families and subtraction.

                                                     Dear Kindergarten parents,

One of our dear students, Marco Wheeler, will be leaving Discovery school before the end of the school year.  His family is moving to El Salvador.  We would like for your child to join us in wishing him safe travels and saying farewell to him on his last day at school.  Nancy Larin (Marco's Mom) and Alexanderia Haidara (Naima's Mom) will be holding a farewell party for him and serving pizza for his classmates on Tuesday, May 22 at noon. Please do not bring lunch for your child.  Thank you.

WE NEED OUR PARENTS! Last Thursday we were unable to reach the necessary quorum at the General Assembly for the approval of next year’s school budget and calendar. PLEASE COME this Thursday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. Our parents’ support is one of the many things that make Discovery School such an exceptional place.

Monday May 28th is a holiday (Memorial Day).

The Discovery Zone Summer Camp is filling up real fast. If you would like to register (or have a family or friend that is interested) please contact the school soon!
