WEEK OF JANUARY 9-13, 2012

  Dear Parents,

This week we will learn letter Oo. We will work on opposites, and we will start a unit on subtraction, or taking away.

Martin Luther King Jr:  On Friday January 13th, Mrs.Haidara has volunteered to come to school to the kindergarten class and read a book about Dr.King. We will also watch a video and discuss about Dr. King’s life and contributions to mankind all the week.

We would like to give a warm welcome to Oliver Miller. He joined our Kindergarten Class last week!!!

Do not forget to bring back the folders to school. Without a folder the children are likely to misplace their homework, books, or any home communication we might be sending.
·   Report Cards an d Conferences: Report Cards will be issued on Friday, January 13. This is an early dissmissal (AM Schedule) day for students. Conferences are on an ‘as-needed’ basis.
·   Parent Workshop: Our school counselor, Ms. Ivonne Casco, will be hosting a workshop for parents
on Friday, January 20, at 1:30 p.m. Information will be posted on her blog.
·      Professional Development Wednesday: Our third Staff Development Wednesday will take place on Wednesday, January 18. Please note that we are meeting on the 18th instead of the last Wednesday of the month. Mr. Jose Cordon will lead a training on how to use the Mimio technology—including time for teachers to ‘play’ with it. This is an early dismissal day (PM Schedule) for students.
·   DPTO Fun Run: Our annual school Fun Run will take place on Saturday, January 28, beginning at 8:30 a.m. There will be the traditional run, games, and a complimentary pancake and fruit breakfast to follow. The pledge forms were sent before the Winter Holiday, however, if you would like an additional copy, please download it from the Area Administrators’ blogs.

We would appreciate your donations of paper towels, large and small Ziploc bags,  for this New Year.

“Children carry more between home and school than a lunch and a backpack. Working together we can lighten their load.” Anonymous quote.
