WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27-OCTOBER 1

This is definitely going to be a fun week!
We will be studying letter Ff. The word of the week is fan. We will be discussing fire safety and procedures in case of a fire. If you have any books or stories related to the topic please send them to school so that we can read them to your child.

On October 1st we will begin writing EVERY DAY in a journal. Each student is going to have his or her own journal that will be changed every month. Through daily writing experiences young children will move along various writing stages at different rates. Making journal writing a daily habit in kindergarten can help children learn and look forward to an opportunity to draw and write.

This week we are going to start Read Aloud Time. We will be reading a book called Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Osborne from the Magic Tree House Series. This is to develop your child’s comprehension in reading. Reading aloud can make a difference in the lives of young children!

If you have not yet sent your child’s Progress Report signed, please do so before the end of this week. Those of you who have not yet sent a change of clothes for your child make sure you send it as soon as possible. Accidents do happen and you never know if you will ever get a call from us informing you that your child needs a complete set of clothes.

We wish to thank Alexander Mueller and Fabrizzio Specia for bringing the ingredients of last week’s Kindergarten Kafe. The kids made a nicely decorated egg out of bread, strawberry jelly, and Skittles. This week, Natalia Sherman and Sofia Zanoletty will be in charge of providing the ingredients for Kindergarten Kafe.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 20-SEPTEMBER 24

This week we will be doing letter Ee. The word of the week is egg and we will be doing lots of activities with egg cartons. We will also start an interesting unit about Planet Earth in which we will discuss day and night, the Earth’s rotation, the sun, the moon and much more. The children will even have an opportunity to act it out!

We are back with Kindergarten Kafe. The children in charge of bringing the ingredients for this Friday September 24th are Alexander Mueller and Fabrizzio Specia. Thank you in advance!

Please remind your children that Ms. Carol has requested they bring a water bottle to P.E. class. The school is going green and will no longer provide for paper cups. Please make sure to LABEL the water bottles with your child’s name. Thanks for your understanding.

Your children need your presence more than your presents.

SEPTEMBER 16-17

We hope you have all had a restful holiday. These two days we will be counting up to 20 and review letter sound recognition from Aa to Dd.
Progress reports will be sent home this week. It is unbelievable that we are half way through the first quarter of Kindergarten. This report is to let you know how your child is doing in school.

A special THANK YOU goes to Mr. Ricardo Mas for donating all the beautiful flowers to decorate our cart. Also, we would like to thank Mrs. Kathy Velasquez for letting us use the gorgeous wagon as our cart. Last but not least we would like to thank Mrs. Doris Touchstone for coming in to help decorate our cart. The children all looked fantastic and we all had a wonderful time.
