WEEK OF MARCH 14-18, 2016

This week we are going to be introducing the letter Hh. The vocabulary that we are going to be focusing on is the following: hamburger, hammer, hanger, hospital, honey, hippopotamus, hose, hopscotch, helmet, helicopter, hive, hair, hay, hotdog, and hula hoops. We would like for you to know that we will continue with this letter the week we come back from our Easter Break.
If you have any items at home that begin with this letter, send them over with your child and we will be discussing them in class, we will display them on a table and we will return them back on Friday. The kids get excited to bring things from home.
Some of the stories that we will be reading this week are:
Where is Baby Hippo hiding? We will help his mother find him in this hilarious hide-and-seek story that teaches the letter H.
Harry is a white dog with black spots who loves everything . . . except baths. So one day before bath time, Harry runs away. He plays outside all day long, digging and sliding in everything from garden soil to pavement tar. By the time he returns home, Harry is so dirty he looks like a black dog with white spots. His family doesn't even recognize him!

As you already know, this Thursday we are all going to Giulliana’s Florentino small farm located at Tatumbla for our Easter Egg Hunt. We are going to be leaving the school around 8:00 a.m. and returning around 12:30 p.m. If your child comes to school by car, try to be here before 8:00 since we will be leaving promptly at the time stated. The children only need to bring lunch since we will be eating snack at the farm. You are more than welcome to join us if you wish. If you decide to come you need to take your own transportation and pay Lps. 70.00 for your snack.
Please remember the 5 egg shells requested last week. The children will have fun painting these egg shells and then hunting for them on Thursday in our Easter Party.
The five new sight words for this week are: your, when, use, how, and will. We will continue to work with these words after our Easter Break. We are now up to 65 sight words!!! Please practice them with your child at home!!!

A fun way to practice sight words with your child at home is by playing Sight Word Twister. Kids will be begging you to practice sight words this way.
In Math, we are going to start counting by twos. We will be doing a variety of games and exercises with the children to practice this skill.
We have talked to the students that we have started the hot season in Honduras. Please provide your child with a water bottle every day. Have them wear light clothes; they can bring a hat to protect from the sun, put sunscreen on their face and arms.
In Honduras we celebrate Father´s Day on March 19th. We would like to invite all of our DADDIES to have Donuts with your child on Friday March 18th at 8:00 a.m. Please be on time since we will start promptly. We are planning on having something nice prepared for you. We hope you can come and spend some time with your child at school.
