Dear Parents,
Can you believe it! November already! Time sure
does fly. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
Ask your child about the experiments we conducted this week. Kindergarten A and B had a great time figuring out why pumpkins float.(look for the video on the school's social media websites next week).

lollipop, lizard, lemon, light bulb, ladder,
lamb, lips, lobster, library, lamp, lightning, lettuce, lock, letter (as in
writing a letter to a friend) ladybug, lid, and log.
Some of the stories we are going to be reading
this week are:
In this infectious rhyming read-aloud, Baby Llama turns bedtime
into an all-out llama drama! Tucked into bed by his mama, Baby Llama
immediately starts worrying when she goes downstairs, and his soft whimpers
turn to hollers when she doesn't come right back. But just in time, Mama
returns to set things right.
This story explores the concepts of time, size
and manners through the exploits of one very grouchy ladybug. When it refuses
to share aphids with another ladybug, the grouchy insect flies off to pick a
fight an hour with a succession of ever-larger animals.
In Math, we are going to be introducing number
16. The children will make sets with this number. We will be graphing this
week. We will be using pictographs to read and interpret the
graphs. Each child will have the chance to create their own graph.
We will also
inquire into the concept of TOP, MIDDLE, BOTTOM
We will continue to work with the sight words
introduced last week:
Please practice these words daily.
Phonemic Awareness
The students will continue to study Beginning
and Ending Consonants
In Science, we will begin our Micro-climates and Energy from the
Sun Unit. The students will be measuring
temperatures in different micro-climates around school. They will also collect
and analyze the data.
Permission slips for the Health Fair will be sent home on Monday
please return them as soon as possible.
It is customary at Discovery School for our families to come together towards the Holiday Season and open their hearts to share with others in our community. This year, the school is looking at preparing 29 Holiday Baskets for our maintenance, support and security staff. We are asking for a family contribution of L150 to be sent before Friday, November 16. Please place your contribution in a sealed envelope with your family name, and send it to school or give it to one of your homeroom teachers. These proceeds will be used to buy the staples for the Holiday Baskets that will be given out before the Holiday Break.
Monday: Bring an object from home that begins with the Letter
“L”
Tuesday & Thursday: Check notebook
