Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.
These will be a busy couple of weeks, please read the blog carefully.
Angelitos Del Dia is a perfect way to help show our kids just how easy it can be to make a difference in our community. Please keep on collecting donations from friends and family and add them to your bag.
"Angelitos del Dia" helps out newborn babies born in Materno Infantil here in Tegucigalpa. They provide moms with newborn essentials (blankets, pajamas, socks, hats, wash cloths, towels, diapers, baby wipes, baby soap and baby shampoo).
Please feel free to donate as many items as you wish. Send them in by Wednesday, December 6th.
Mark your calendar Friday December 8th, Song Fest at 8:30 is right around the corner. Ms. Colette's class will need the students to dress up as follows: black pants, black leggings,or a black skirt and tights, and a red or white shirt for our presentation.
Ms. Elisa's class will need the students to dress up as follows: Girls All White, Boys Navy Blue Pants and a White Shirt for the presentation.
This will also be our Review Week!!!
We will be reviewing all the letters of the alphabet we have studied so far with their corresponding vocabulary.
Letters Cc, Oo, Ll, Rr, and Uu
We will be doing different activities to review syllable counting, beginning and ending sounds, and rhyming words reading sight word sentences.
We are going to be evaluating the 21 sight words we have worked on in class and the ones from first quarter ( I sent a Power Point Presentation Home Last Quarter). Please make sure your child recognize these words by sight. Practicing at home daily will be very beneficial for your kid and helpful for us. The sight words they should know by now are: the, as, with, his, they, of, at, be, this, have, see, or, four, had, by, can orange, green, black, five, six. It is very important for them to recognize all the words, since we are starting to do a lot of writing and reading activities. They are all very excited to know that they are starting to write and read on their own.
In Math, we will be reviewing numbers 0-18. The children should be able to recognize these numbers in and out of sequence, making sets to match each number and sequence the numbers in the correct order. We will also review the concepts Top, Middle Bottom, What number comes before? What number comes after? Which is more? Which is less? Making tally marks and using a ten frame to represent numbers
On December 1st we will decorate our Christmas tree. If you have any decorations or lights that you would like to share with our class please send them in. We will return all the decorations in January. Also, if you have any books that are related to the winter holiday's (Hanukkah, Kwanzaa & Christmas) we would love to read them in class. Please send them with your child, we will be displaying them in our book corner.
Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) is an international organization
that takes in abandoned and orphaned children, providing a home and education. Here in
Honduras, the NPH organization provides for over 500 children in at large ranch near La Venta
and home in Tegucigalpa for severely handicapped children. While many children at the ranch
have aunts, uncles, or grandparents that come to visit them and can provide some Christmas
gifts, some children at a ranch have no family to visit. It is these children, whom we would like
to provide for this Christmas. In the secondary building, second floor, a NPH Giving Tree bulletin board will be set up. If you wish to participate, choose a paper tree that has a child’s information about his/her size for shoes and socks.
Purchase the new items and return them to Mrs. Agurcia’s
Room (Secondary Building, Rm. 7) by Tuesday, December 5th,unwrapped, with the tree tag taped to it. Thank you for giving
this Christmas!
If more information about NPH’s work in Honduras, please visit http://www.nph-honduras. org/
