Week of October 3rd - 7th

September 30, 2016

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. This week is a short week. Students will be coming to school on Monday and Tuesday.

This will be REVIEW WEEK!

We will be review the following skills:

  • Letter recognition, letter sound, and their corresponding vocabulary.  Letters Ss, Tt, Bb, Pp, Mm,  and Aa

  • Identifying a letter/ word/ sentence

  • We will be doing activities to review syllable counting, rhyming words and beginning sounds.

  • We are going to be evaluating the 15 sight words we have worked with in the class. Your child needs to recognize these words by sight. The sight words they should know are: the, I, and, a, to, in, is, you, that, it, he, was, for, on, are.

  • In Math, we will be reviewing numbers 0-12. The children should be able to recognize these numbers out of sequence, making sets to match each number and sequence the numbers in the correct order. We will be reviewing pictographs and counting backwards from 10.

There will be no school on  Wednesday,
Thursday or Friday. This is the Honduran holiday stipulated by the government. I wish everyone a wonderful and safe holiday.
School resumes on Monday October 10th.

FUNDACION ABRIGO – Once again, Discovery School supports FundaciĆ³n Abrigo in their mission to lodge families from the rural areas who come to Hospital Escuela. We are asking our school families to send 1 gallon of floor disinfectant per family, and to send it in by Friday, October 28th.

What a wonderful way to show our gratitude for what we have – to share what we have with those in need!
