Week of May 25-29

Dear Parents,
This is going to be a bitter sweet week. It is time to say good- bye to our lovely students but at the same time we know that they are ready to move on in their lives. They are all excited to go to FIRST GRADE… hooray!!! We will devote this week to have fun. If you have any board games that we can play at school, have your child bring them to share the fun. They can also bring toys that they are willing to share with their friends.

The children had a lot of fun learning about Chile, Spain and Costa Rica last week. We would like to thank those parents for everything you taught us about these beautiful countries. This week is the turn of MALAYSIA. Children will write about things they learned of the countries mentioned above.

It was a great pleasure to have your little ones in our classroom this year. We learned so many things. Your children are proud because they finally know how to read and write.
This year is over, so now we return your children to you, the same children that you entrusted to our care last fall. We return them with a few more pounds, a few inches taller, and months wiser, more responsible, and more mature than back then.
Even though they would have grown without our help, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to see their personalities grow day by day and see how they have developed their learning.
We have laughed, played, studied, learned and enriched our lives during the year. Take care of your children, for they are so precious.
Remember that we will always have great interest in your children and their destinies, wherever they must go, whatever they do and whoever they become.
Sincerely,

Ms. Valencia Durón and Ms. María Fernanda Padilla

Week of May 18-22

Dear Parents,
Wow, it is amazing to realize that this school year is almost over and that First Grade is around the corner for our lovely students.

We will be looking at different fables. The students will get the chance to discuss each one of them.

We will devote the remaining days of school to review all the sight words we have worked with in Kindergarten. Using these words we are going to be dictating sentences for the children to write them down. This will be challenging for them but we are also sure that it will be encouraging and exciting at the same time.

In Math we are going to work on Word Problems. The children will determine if they need to add or subtract in a problem given. We will emphasize the fact that they need to answer in a complete sentence.

This week we will begin our unit about Children Around the World. This week our mainly focus will be three beautiful countries: Spain, Chile and Costa Rica. How exciting!!!! We will also be looking at various videos about this beautiful country and learn about their culture. We will get the chance to try some yummy food of these countries.

For the remaining 10 days of school, we are allowing the children to bring TWO toys from home so they can share and play with their friends. The students already know the rules to bring the toys. Thank you!

We are requesting 2 carnet size picture of your child for their Kindergarten Diploma. The due date for the pictures was last Friday. Unfortunately, not all of you have brought them. If I do not get the pictures by this Wednesday, your child will not get the official diploma. Thank you for your understanding.

Our End of the Year Party will take place on Tuesday, May 26th at Rancho 1 of BCIE club. The committee is requesting Lps. 450.00 to cover all the expenses which would include the following: rental of place, transportation, snack, drinks, lunch, a cap (instead of a t-shirt like it was mentioned before), decoration, etc. Please send this money as soon as possible so things can be bought and paid. She knits a sweater for herself and her dog.  At first the townspeople criticize her for her colorful appearance – but it turns out they want sweaters too.  Eventually Annabelle has created sweaters for everyone and everything in town.

Ask them questions and you will be surprised of all the things they know of each one of them. Do you know which one is the hottest planet? If you do not know, your child does!!!!
We will be closing our school year with a unit about Children Around the World. We will mainly be discussing traditions and culture of other countries. With a zoom, zoom, zoom the kite soars up, up, up in the air. But when a storm rumbles in --SNAP!--the kite string breaks! The chase is on as the two friends tear after their kite and find it in a tree, protecting a nest of baby birds from the rain.

Little Bear gives an animal friend a picture to deliver to his grandmother.  His grandmother sends a kiss back to give to Little Bear.  The first animal tires of the journey, so he passes the kiss along to another animal, who passes it to another… until it reaches a skunk, who shares it with a female skunk – and she shares it back.  In the end the skunks get married.
