Dear Parents,
Wow, it is amazing to
realize that this school year is almost over and that First Grade is around the
corner for our lovely students.
We
will be looking at different fables. The students will get the chance to
discuss each one of them.
We
will devote the remaining days of school to review all the sight words we have
worked with in Kindergarten. Using these words we are going to be dictating
sentences for the children to write them down. This will be challenging for
them but we are also sure that it will be encouraging and exciting at the same
time.
In Math we are going to work on Word
Problems. The children will determine if they need to add or subtract in a
problem given. We will emphasize the fact that they need to answer in a complete
sentence.
This week we will begin our unit
about Children Around the World. This week our mainly focus will be three beautiful countries: Spain, Chile and Costa Rica. How
exciting!!!! We will also be looking at various videos about this beautiful
country and learn about their culture. We
will get the chance to try some yummy food of these countries.
For the remaining 10 days of school, we are allowing the children to
bring TWO toys from home so they can share and play with their friends. The
students already know the rules to bring the toys. Thank you!
We are requesting 2 carnet size
picture of your child for their Kindergarten Diploma. The due date for the
pictures was last Friday. Unfortunately, not all of you have brought them. If I
do not get the pictures by this Wednesday, your child will not get the official
diploma. Thank you for your understanding.
Our End of the Year Party will take
place on Tuesday, May 26th at
Rancho 1 of BCIE club. The committee is requesting Lps. 450.00 to cover all the
expenses which would include the following: rental of place, transportation,
snack, drinks, lunch, a cap (instead of a t-shirt like it was mentioned before),
decoration, etc. Please send this money as soon as possible so things can be bought and paid. This
is ONLY for the children. All parents are welcome to come. If you decide to do
so, you will need to send in Lps. 120 extra per adult coming to buy the lunch.
We are planning on leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and leaving BCIE at 2:00
p.m.
MANY THANKS - Thank you to all the parents who sent in pineapple crowns. Our fifth graders have enjoyed planting them behind our class. They have also planted the seeds for the papayas! Special thanks to Mr. Arnaldo Antunez for guiding us in this project, for his time and donations.
EARLY DISMISSAL WEDNESDAY – Please remember that our students will be dismissed at 11:45 this Wednesday, May 20. Our teachers will be working on the AdvancedEd Accreditation process that afternoon. We will be following P.M. Schedule that day.
MINUTA SALE - Discovery's Helping Hands, the community service club led by Mrs. Agurcia, will be selling minutas (snow cones) Friday, May 22, during lunch and after school to raise funds for Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, a children's home. Each minuta will cost L. 15 and there will be a variety of flavors to choose from. Please help us support this wonderful organization
