Week 6 September 12th -September 16th

September 9,2016
Dear Parents,
 I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
Thank you Kyra, Liang, Nathan, and Alejandro C for all the "Pp" treats that were sent in . We enjoyed the popcorn and pizza very much!
This will be a short week; Wednesday September 14th is a half day. The students will be dismissed at 11:45. There will be NO SCHOOL Thursday September 15th or Friday September 16th.We will be celebrating Independence Day.

On Wednesday we will be celebrating Honduras. We will begin our morning with a traditional Honduran breakfast. Then, we will go up to the auditorium for an assembly. Kindergarten will be part of the assembly; they will be singing a song. For this Ms. Pamela has asked that the students dress in blue and white or the official soccer uniform, also blue and white. After the assembly the students will play traditional Honduran games. 



Midterm Reports will be sent home on Wednesday. Please look them over, si
gn and return them on Monday the 19th. If you would like a conference, and one was not requested, please contact me  to set up an appointment.



                                         
          
This week we will review everything that has been taught up until now.
·      The letters, Mm, Aa, Tt and Pp. This will include the vocabulary, letter name, and sound.

·      In math we will review more, less, 1 more than a number, 1 less than a number, same different, counting to 10 and making sets.

·      The sight words: I, to, a, and, you, that, is, it, in, that

·      The difference between a letter, word, sentence. Identifying the sight words in a text

·      Social Studies, We will continue our unit “Getting to Know Honduras” we will talk about the national animals and plants; guacamaya, white tailed deer, the pine tree and the orchid

If you have anything about Honduras that you are willing to share with us, we would really appreciate it.

  

Next Tuesday, September 20th, we will begin our Math MAP Test. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest as well as a healthy breakfast for them to be ready to take the test.
