WEEK OF MARCH 28 TO APRIL 1

                            Dear Parents,

This week we will study letter Ww. The children will enjoy learning about the water cycle, and concepts such as evaporation and precipitation.

We would like to ask all the Kindergarten Parents to label everything with your child’s name. This includes plastic containers that the children bring in their lunchboxes, sweaters, jackets, water bottles, etc. This is to avoid losing these belongings. This way it is easier for us to know who do they belong.

The Easter Egg Hunt is around the corner. We will meet with the Easter Committee soon and we will let you know what was decided. In the meantime, we can tell you that it is going to take place on Thursday, April 14th.

We are going to have Kindergarten Kafe this Friday. The children in charge of providing the ingredients for this activity are William Davis and Jeremiah Fenn.

If there is anything we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves.

WEEK OF MARCH 21 TO 25

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful long weekend and were able to get enough rest, or at least spend some enjoyable time with your children.

This week we will be doing letter Vv. The word of the week is van. The children are going to be very busy as we will cover volcanoes, Venn diagrams, and we will review vowels. We are going to be doing a lot of activities regarding ending sounds.

If you have any interesting books on Volcanoes that you would like to share with the class we will gladly show them to the class.

This Friday, March 25th, is an early dismissal day. We shall be sending report cards home and we will be conferring with some of the parents.

I brought children into this dark world because it needed the light that only a child can bring. Liz Armbuster

WEEK OF MARCH 14 TO MARCH18

Dear Parents,

This week we will be studying the letter Uu. We will be talking about underwater life. If you have any books that we could borrow we would appreciate your cooperation. Every morning your child has two jobs to do> a classroom chore and matching his/her last name with his/her phone number. Most of them can now say their phone number by themselves. Make sure you ask your child and you will be amazed at the results.

Our Book Master trip was a huge success. The students enjoyed a tour around the store and then listening to a story called “Curious George.” They enjoyed doing masks and having a snack at the store. Book Master gave all the children a book as a gift. The kids were very excited about their gift.

Family Night was a fun way to interact with parents. Thanks for coming! The kids had a blast!!!

Last week we made a traffic light in our Kindergarten Kafe. Thanks Natalia Sherman and Jose Alberto Molina for donating the ingredients.

This Friday there is NO SCHOOL!!!

PARENT FORUM MEETINGS: As we did last year, we are scheduling Parent Forum meetings by grade level to meet with the Head of School and Board President and discuss anything that parents may want to bring to their attention--kudos, suggestions, and concerns. Please exercise this option to make your voice heard. Our parents are our partners in education, and working together we can achieve remarkable things with our students. The Kindergarten meeting is going to be held on Wednesday, March 16th from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Library.

WEEK OF MARCH 7 TO MARCH 11

Dear Parents,

This week we will continue working with the letter Tt. As we already mentioned in our last blog, we will continue with rhyming words and word families.

Last week we began working on how to tell time to the hour. We will continue practicing this week. The children will be playing a variety of games to help them understand how to tell time and the different kinds of clocks around us. They are having a lot of fun doing this. Encourage them at home also to tell you the time to the hour that appears on any clock that is in your house.

Family Night is this coming Friday, March 11th!!!!!
The Music department will be devoting their class time this week to constructing musical instruments for the BATUCADA SAMBA GRITÓN group presentation on Family Night. Please make sure that your child brings with him/her the following materials for your child’s choice of instrument by Monday morning:
For Drums: An Large Empty Milk Can with its lid (preferably “CETECO” brand, but any will do) OR a medium size plastic bucket, AND a broom stick (with out the broom).
For Maracas: Two small empty cans OR two small Agua Azul bottles.
Please send your child’s materials labeled with your child’s name. If you have extras of any of these materials, please donate them to share with the children who may not be able to bring them. If your child has any stickers or drawings that they would like to use for decorating their instrument, please encourage them to bring them or put them in the bag along with the materials.
We hope you can all join us for a wonderful fun filled evening.

On Friday, March 11th, we will be going on a field trip to Book Master. Please make sure your child arrives to school promptly. We will depart at 8:30 a.m. If you are unable to make it on time for our departure you will have to drop off your child at Book Master (the one located by the airport). Thanks for your understanding.
