WEEK OF JANUARY 31-FEBRUARY 4

Dear Parents,

This week we are going to continue working with the letter Pp  and we are going to be introducing the letter Qq as well. We will start a unit on plants where we will discuss the different plant parts, how plants grow, and why we need them. The children will have the opportunity to plant some seeds and watch their plants grow. Please send Lps. 50.00 by Wednesday that is going to be used for     buying the flowerpots, soil and seeds.

Kindergarten is going to their first Field Trip. We are planning to go to Pizza Hut this Thursday, February 3rd. The Pizza Hut staff will be waiting for us at 8:15 a.m. We will be leaving the school at 8:00 a.m. sharp. You are more than welcome to join us on this field trip. If you decide to do so you will need to provide for your own transportation. The Pizza Hut that we are going to be visiting is the one located in Blvd. Juan Pablo II

Last Friday the children celebrated 100 days of school and they all looked adorable! After modeling their creative outfits they had fun making crafts or doing searches in the different classrooms.
A big thank you goes to Kathy Velasquez for providing us with drinks, popcorn and chips to celebrate the 100th Day of School!

Valentine’s Day is coming up soon and we will be talking about Friendship and  making a lot of fun activities with the children. The Valentine’s Committee is asking for a contribution of Lps. 100.00 to buy snacks, treat bags, stickers, drinks, and cake. Please send this contribution no later than Monday,    February 7th.

WEEK OF JANUARY 24 to 28

Dear Parents,

This will surely be a very busy week. This week and the following one we will be working on letter Pp. This week we will continue with simple one-digit subtraction problems. We will start a unit on plants where we will discuss the different plant parts, how plants grow, and why we need them.

On Friday, January 28th, we will celebrate the 100th day of school. The children will be involved in fun activities, and will visit the first and second grade classrooms. Do not forget your children can come to school wearing 100 items on their clothes. Check your child’s folder today to see all the information needed.

We are planning a field trip to Pizza Hut on Thursday February 3rd, but will send more information later on.

This week we will not be having Kindergarten Kafe , because of the 100th Day of School celebration.

WEEK OF JANUARY 17-21

  Dear Parents,

This week we will learn letter Oo. We will work on opposites, and we will start a unit on subtraction, or taking away.

On Friday, January 28th, we will celebrate the 100th day of school. The children will be involved in fun activities, and will visit the pre-K, first, and second grade classrooms. You will be getting more information about this celebration later in the week.

Do not forget to bring back the folders to school. Without a folder the children are likely to misplace their homework, books, or any home communication we might be sending.

We would appreciate your donations of paper towels, large and small Ziploc bags, and turtle food for this New Year.

The children in charge of bringing the ingredients for this week’s Kindergarten Kafe are Gloria Mejia and Adriana Lanza

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID MARTINEZ!!! He is going to be 6 years old on Monday, January 17th. He is going to celebrate with all of us on Friday, January 21st and will provide pizza for everyone. You only need to pack a snack for your child on this day.

WEEK OF JANUARY 10 -14

Dear Parents,

We will begin the New Year with the letter Nn. We will continue to work with addition and very soon we will be starting to work with subtraction.

January is a chilly month. Make sure your children are coming to school wearing warm clothes. The clothes need to be properly labeled as children tend to take them off when they feel warm and can leave it behind in any of the classrooms. Please understand it is very difficult for us to keep track of where they leave their stuff behind.

Do not forget to send folders every day. Some children are not bringing them to school and without a folder they will lose the papers or books on their way home. Help us teach them it is their responsibility and not their parents’ responsibility to bring it to school every day.

Please remember this week we are starting with our weekly homework every Tuesday (writing) and Thursday (reading). Help your child, but do not do his/her homework. Check your child’s folder today since you will be getting all the information you need to know explaining about the homework. Believe it or not, the children are all very excited to start getting homework.

This week we are setting up our Drama Center. Please send in at least two items that you are willing to donate to the classroom. Children love to play dressing up as mom and dad. These items can be hats, costumes, shirts, neckties, shoes, jewelry, etc.

Unfortunately, there will be no Kindergarten Kafe this week. On Friday, January 14th we have an early dismissal at 11:45 a.m.
This day is scheduled to be conference day. We sent a note last Friday to letting you know if we needed to meet with you or not.

WEEK OF JANUARY 3-7

Dear Parents,
It is wonderful to be back and with lots of expectations for the New Year 2011. We hope you had a restful and joyful Christmas break. During the break the children tend to forget or need to review some of the concepts we have been previously studying. This week we will review letters, sounds, vocabulary, we will also review mathematical concepts.

During this week we are going to be talking about our New Year’s Resolution. We are going to post the children’s resolutions for you to read them as soon as we have them.

Starting next week the children will begin taking homework home every Tuesday and Thursday. We will be sending more information about it next week.

There will be no Kindergarten Kafe since this will be a very short week. Next week we will advise who is in charge of bringing the ingredients.

We wish you all the best this year! Welcome back!

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day. Edith Lovejoy Pierce
